my front door is facing west. i read that the only colors for a front door that is west facing door, (in feng shui) are yellow, silver, gold, copper, and white. but i wanted to paint my front door red. will that have a negative effect? or is it just that those colors are recommended but not entirely necessary?|||the best way to conceal you front door from bad spirits is to paint it in such a way as to camoflauge it, by making it blend into the walls surrounding it.|||Red is very overpowering and has been shown to drive mice crazy in experiments with colors. But, maybe you need a litlle craziness in your life.
God bless.|||white probably best in fung shui, but, why not red if you want it. a red door is definitely intriguing and I'v e seen many a red door on houses around my city.
white if you do not opt for red.|||the most important in fengshui is where your door points - i mean exact degree using a compass or a luo pan which most fengshui practitioners use. why? because this determines if this door is good for you or not, and this also determines the arrangement of rooms/ appliances inside the house, based on its energy distribution which is based on the degree of this door.
the only critical part regarding the color of the door and fengshui is that if you paint a bright color to the door, then it tends to energize that part of your house. the problem is if that part of the house contains bad energy, then bad things will happen. energy in the house can either be good or bad based on the tilt degree of the door - you need to know flying stars method, which is about the calculation of this chart.
location and direction in fengshui are 2 different things. you can have a west facing door but it is located at the SW part of the house, if you paint this red or some bright color, thinking that west is metal so you can reap its benefit by painting it either gold, silver or red, then the color might activate something bad - attract ghosts/ spirits into your house as SW-NE line is where spirits pass in fengshui. so, it does not always goes that if you have a west facing door, you need to paint it with red, gold or silver - this is just mostly published in books. but most fengshui practitioners do not really do this. instead, we emphasize more on fenghui based on methods and theories, like where to put the kitchen (for money; how to position the stove), where to put the bedroom (for health), where to put the other living rooms (to have a good life), where to put the less lived rooms like toilets and storage - all of these are to manipulate the outcome of life - what will happen based on the energy distribution. i know this sounds difficult and overwhelming esp if you dont know what i am talking about. but this is what fengshui is really about. this is the fengshui that is not written in most books.
